Hand Pie Crust

This simple hand pie crust recipe is perfect for pumpkin pasties or any hand pie you enjoy.

Ingredients
  

  • 8 ounces cold butter
  • cup cold heavy cream
  • 3 cups flour
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon water

Instructions
 

  • Mix together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt in a stand mixer.
  • Cut the butter in until pea sized clumps of butter are formed.
  • Slowly add the heavy cream while mixing until dough sticks together but isn't too runny.
  • Shape into a ball and refrigerate for an hour if too soft.
  • Roll out to ¼" thickness then cut to desired shape and size with cookie cutter or knife.
  • Add 2-4 tablespoons of desired filling to the center of each hand pie.
  • Whisk egg and water together to make your egg wash.
  • Use your egg wash around the edges of each pie then fold over and crimp shut with a fork. Add design with holes on top if desired.
  • Use a pastry brush to apply egg wash to coat top of each hand pie.
  • Bake at 375 degrees for 20 minutes until golden brown.
