How to Make Lemon Butter Chicken Pasta
This lemon chicken pasta recipe is not difficult to make and usually comes together within 35-45 minutes.
- Step 1: Cut, juice, and zest your lemon
- Step 2: Chop up your two chicken breasts into bite size pieces and saute in 1 tablespoon of butter until cooked through. Boil a pot of salted water and cook your rigatoni noodles al dente. Set chicken aside. Using the chicken pan add another tablespoon of butter and saute your garlic until fragrant
- Step 3: Whisk in your tablespoon of flour along with your lemon juice and zest. Once combined, add your ⅓ cup of salted pasta water and 2 cups of heavy cream. Add the chicken back to the pan along with the salt and pepper.
Remove your pan from the heat and add your parmesan cheese. Stir until combined then add your cooked rigatoni noodles.
Hint: Make sure to whisk constantly while adding the flour and cream so that your sauce doesn't form clumps. Nothing worse than a clumpy cream sauce.
Substitutions
This recipe can easily be made vegetarian by omitting the chicken. To make this lemon butter chicken pasta vegan you would need to use vegan butter and cheese as well.
Equipment
I love our favorite saute pan and stainless steel pot we use for this recipe. Find the rest of my favorites on Amazon or Target.
Storage
This pasta stays good for 3-4 days in the refrigerator.
Top Tip
Don't overcook the noodles. Definitely one of my pet peeves when eating at a restaurant is mushy pasta.
